Governing Board and Management Committee

The Governing Board is the ultimate authority for the operation of the Society.

The Governing Board is the equivalent of a board of directors, deciding policy for the Society, authorizing its operations, hiring its Executive Director, and making financial decisions.  The Board is led by the Management Committee, the Society’s five elected officers, and the Executive Director.

The American Fisheries Society has been led by many illustrious fisheries professionals, including those who served as President of the Society, the top elected position of leadership.  In addition, several individuals have served at the Society’s headquarters as Executive Directors, conducting the business of the Society.
