Meet Father and Son Certified Fisheries Professionals

Congratulations to John Fraley and his son, Kevin – they are both certified fisheries professionals.  John renewed his certification at the same time that Kevin became an Associate Fisheries Professional.

Screen Shot 2015-05-22 at 1.58.19 PMJohn Fraley has been certified since 1981.  He is a longtime member of AFS, with a list of accomplishments that include:

  • Montana AFS Chapter Executive Committee
  • President, Montana Chapter of AFS- The Montana Chapter was presented with the AFS Outstanding Chapter Award for 1990-91.
  • Co-organizer of the 1996 AFS National Public Outreach Symposium: “How do we make fish as popular as dinosaurs,” in Bozeman, Montana. Speakers included Ted Turner, Jane Fonda, novelist Thomas McGuane, fly fishing humorist John Gierach, artist Ray Troll, and others, and the event made thousands of dollars for AFS.
  • Co-organizer of a second national AFS Public Outreach Symposium at the Annual Meeting in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1998.

Kevin Fraley just became an Associate Fisheries Professional.  He is now a graduate student at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.  Kevin has served as President of the University of Alaska Fairbanks AFS Student Subunit.  In 2008, Kevin was an AFS Hutton Scholar.
